Slime Rancher Beatrix 3D Closeup
This was the image used to model the Slimepedia Device. It actually was a 3D view that allowed me to look at it from different angles
Slimepedia Device 3D Render
After about 6 hours of modeling, I had a printable version of the device ready.
Slimepedia Device Printed Parts
Here are the individual parts of the Slimepedia Device
Slimepedia Device Assembled
And this is the device after assembly, including the fake screen and some crude paint job.
This is how it all started... some of the early calculations were based off of this screenshot.
What a blessing it was when this rendering was released. It filled in a lot of blanks of how the VacPack looks. It also showed me that a lot of my initial size calculations were wrong, but it was too late to change those things at that point.
First print test to see if I could print the spiral without support. Even though it wasn't perfect, it was good enough that with some primer sanding, I could make it work
Priting the inner barrel. This part had 5 individual print processes with different settings. This allowed me to print most of the inner fins with just a single wall which saved a ton of material and weight.
Here you can see the single wall used for the inner fins. Only at the bottom and the top few mm is there actually infill to support the screw holes.
Almost done :)
The inner barrel completed. Still got a lot of priming, sanding and painting in front of me before it is done. Oh how I wish I had a dual color setup :)
Moving on to the parts that hold the inner barrel in place inside the plexiglass tube.
Testing for fit.
Completed mount piece for the inner barrel
This is the front flange that fixes the main barrel to the underneath support. Pretty much flying in the dark on how exactly this will fit later on... let's kick that can down the road for a while.
The pieces so far fit together.
Time for some taping, then primer/filler, sanding and painting white over the sanded part... then more taping, sanding and painting the inner fins black.
All the painting done for the inner barrel.
