    Milky Way over the Oeschinensee

This was another all night outing that started out with a very small chance of being successful as the forecast called for clouds through most of the night. To my luck, the clouds started to disappear at around 10pm and the sky remained clear all through the night. It was absolutely magical sitting in the dark under this gorgeous sky and this made the rather steep ascend to this location well worth it. The little light at the end of the lake is the small hotel where my wife and son enjoyed their sleep.

    Milkyway over Glacier National Park

The day I wanted to do my Milky Way shot out in Glacier National park, the air was filled with smoke and haze from a nearby wildfire. It made for a beautiful sunset, but a challenging night shot. After the sun set, the smoke started to settle a bit and visibility at the higher elevations got better. There is still quite a bit of airglow visible in the picture, but, I actually like the additional colors in the night sky. This is a composite of about 30 exposures at 10 seconds each for the sky, stacked in Sequator with the foreground being about 50 exposures, stacked in Photoshop. In addition, I've used about another 30 exposures for the light trails of the cars

Milky way over Eiger and Grindelwald

This is a shot I've wanted to do for a while now. I spent quite some time researching the location, when I would need to be there, where exactly I would need to be etc. On my last trip to Switzerland, it all came together. Not only was it new moon, the moon was not up the whole night at all. After having weather issues the first few days I was in Switzerland, it looked like that night it would clear up. I went to the location just to find myself in thick clouds for the whole day. Then short before sunset, the clouds magically vanished and I had mostly clear skies till about 3am. That was enough to get the shot I was looking for.

Even though it was raining most of the weekend, I got a couple of hours of clear skies on Sunday Night and I took full advantage of it. This is Sceneca Rocks, West Virginia, with the Milky Way above it.
